Type mapping allows Partners to automatically control which HaloPSA contacts sync to CloudRadial, who gets portal access, and how users are categorized - all based on a custom field value in Halo. This feature brings HaloPSA to parity with the type mapping capabilities available for ConnectWise and Autotask.

Creating the Custom Field in HaloPSA
First, create a custom field on your Halo contacts that will hold the type value:
- In HaloPSA, navigate to Configuration > Custom Fields
- Create a new custom field named
CFTypeMapping - Set the field type to a text or dropdown field
- Define your type values (for example: "Executive", "Standard", "Contractor", "Inactive")
- Apply the field to your contacts
Note: The field name must be CFTypeMapping for CloudRadial to recognize it.
Configuring CloudRadial to Read the Field
- In CloudRadial, go to Partner > Settings > PSA
- Find the Type Mapping UDF setting
- Set the value to
TypeMapping
This tells CloudRadial which custom field to read from each Halo contact during sync.
Setting Up Type Mapping Rules
- In CloudRadial, navigate to Partner > Settings > Type Mappings
- Click Add Type to create a new rule
- Enter the type value exactly as it appears in the HaloPSA custom field
- Configure the desired rules for that type (see Available Rule Options below)
- Repeat for each type value you want to manage
Available Rule Options
Each type mapping rule can control the following:
| Rule | Effect |
|---|---|
| Sync include/exclude | Control whether contacts with this type sync to CloudRadial |
| Priority status | Automatically flag users as VIP/Priority |
| Login control | Prevent or allow portal login by type |
| Group assignment | Auto-assign users to specific groups |
| Role assignment | Auto-assign specific roles to users |
Example Configuration
| Type | Sync | Priority | Login | Group |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Executive | Yes | Yes | Yes | VIP |
| Standard | Yes | No | Yes | Users |
| Contractor | Yes | No | No | - |
| Inactive | No | - | - | - |
In this example, Executives sync with VIP priority and full portal access. Standard users sync with login access but no priority. Contractors sync but cannot log in. Inactive contacts are excluded from sync entirely.
