Often times, you'll find yourself wanting to put certain content from one content folder into another. Common use cases include:
- Wanting to move content from one folder to a brand new one
- Consolidating folders of content into one big folder
- Putting certain items "on ice" - not deleting them, but not publishing them out with the rest of the content in a folder
In any of these cases, you'll want to perform a strategic "cherry pick" and move items around accordingly.
Read the instructions below to learn exactly how to do this.
Moving Content to Another Folder in Partner > Content
Start by narrowing down which content folder you want to split apart. In our example, we'll use the Problem Report package.
Then:
- Create a new content package via Partner > Content by selecting the +Add button
- Choose the content type to be the same type as what you're focusing on
- Name the package and set the User and Company Group targeting to the appropriate audience
- Remember that if you're creating it just to put the content on ice, you don't need any targeting
- Remember that if you're creating it just to put the content on ice, you don't need any targeting
- Now, you'll have a blank content package of your choosing
- Locate and enter the original content package that you want to move content out of
- Select the specific pieces of content (in our example, tickets), and use the Save As button to save them
- Saving them in the same folder will create a duplicate
- Saving them in a folder of the same type will create a carbon copy of the ticket in that folder
- Save them to our newly created folder from Step 3
- The content item will now be in the new folder.
- Feel free to delete the content out of the original folder to reduce clutter - after all, you've created the duplicate already!
- You will need to republish the original content package to get rid of the deleted item.
And that's all there is to it. You'll repeat this process as many times as needed to help move content from one folder to another for more granular management.
Moving Content Saved from a Specific Company to Partner > Content
Partners often create content within a specific client's company rather than the global Partner > Content area. This isn't a problem by itself... unless the Partner intended it to be distributed to more than just the one customer.
To fix this, we'll follow similar steps to the process above:
- Create a new content package via Partner > Content by selecting the +Add button
-
- OR
-
- Select an existing content package in which to save the content to. If you choose this option, skip to Step 6
- Locate and edit the content created on a specific company portal
- Select the specific pieces of content and use the Save As button to save them back to content, in an existing folder of the same type
- The content item will now be in the new folder.
- Delete the content out of the local company to ensure you don't get a duplicate later on when you publish the content out
