Signing In With a Recovery Code
Recovery Codes are the one-time backup codes shown once when you first enroll in MFA. If you can't get a code from your authenticator app at sign-in, you can use one of them instead.
- Sign in as usual until you reach the screen asking for your authentication code.
- Enter one of your Recovery Codes in the code field instead of an authenticator code, then select Verify.
Each Recovery Code is single-use, so the one you enter is spent and can't be reused.
Re-enrolling in MFA
If you have replaced your authenticator app or want a fresh set of backup codes, re-enroll in MFA from Personal Settings > Security (/personal-settings/security). Re-enrolling replaces your authenticator setup and issues a brand-new set of Recovery Codes, which are shown only once. Re-enrolling invalidates your previous authenticator setup and all of your old Recovery Codes, so save the new codes before you leave the screen.
If You Lose Both
If you have lost access to your authenticator app and have no remaining Recovery Codes, you can't clear the MFA challenge yourself. Contact an Owner or Admin in your workspace, who manages team members from Settings > Team, to help restore your access.
