In this video, we'll cover how to create and manage PDF documentation to the Quick Start guides within CloudRadial.
Like the Knowledge Base articles, you or your clients may already have documentation created in PDF format that will be valuable to host in the portal. Common examples include things like employee handbooks, process documentation, emergency contact documents, and more.
The Quick Starts offer a great way to post these PDFs to make it easily accessible. Doing so improves the client experience and makes your portal more worthwhile to access for users; after all, if they can get their information from there, it simply adds more value.
Like all types of Content you can create on the company level as a one off or within the Partner > Content area for quicker and more scalable distribution. For the sake of example, we'll head straight to University > Quick Starts within the Feature Set.
Here you should be able to see a few of the sample PDFs that came pre loaded with your portal. You'll see that thy have Categories appended to them at the top, as well as icons you can define. You can also see their title as well as a brief description beneath each one.
Let's select +Add at the top to add a new Quick Start.
If you've already watched the KB Article video, this should seem familiar. You'll get a very similar set of options to define your quick starts details. However, instead of text field, you'll be prompted to upload a pdf file.
If you're so inclined, you can also create your own PDF from this dialogue, selecting the option to create the Quick Start not from a PDF, but rather from a document, will allow you to write your own document similar to a KB Article. The difference here is the article automatically converted to PDF, causing it to display differently than the KB Article. This use case is if you want to create a document that is more official and distinct than the KB Articles found within the Knowledge Base.
Other options that break the mold include the option to assign a custom icon and icon color. Just like some of the other types of content, you'll have the option to search for Quick Starts at the top via the search bar, or from the right hand menu. And because we're creating this one within the company, we also have the option to assign to a specific User Group to be visible to.
If you don't change this, it will always default to be visible to Everyone. If you plan on creating general PDF guides at scale, you'll find that the best way to go about it is to create them within Partner > Content, like other types of Content we've seen in the past.
Let's head over to Partner and Content in the Feature Set now. The Quick Start sections near the bottom, nestled between the Problem Reports and Service Requests.
If we explore the existing sample catalog, we'll see the meeting Quick Start here is virtually identical to make it on the company level. The difference here is purely in the fact that we can deploy on scale from the content area.
